Embodies sustainability, these Kantha bed throws made from vintage sari’s are hand stitched together with a dense running stitch to create beautiful, one of kind layers of meaning. Mothers, taught daughters the art and have been for the past 500 years. Given as gifts at weddings and family celebrations, the throws were made out of necessity, to not waste any fabric - creating useful blankets, bags, and clothing - giving fabric a second life.
This particular Kantha has been dabu block printed (mud resist) and then dyed with indigo. Two very pretty designs as reversible. At 1.2kg is is considered lightweight, soft and breathable. Looks great as a bed or sofa throw or as wall art.
Due to the age of Kantha, some small repair/patches are visible, this is part of the vintage charm and not seen as faults.
